Castle Chess Camp is held annually at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.
Now in its 22nd year, Castle Chess brings together top instructors and aspiring students for a week of intensive training and fun.
Minimum Peak Rating: 1100 USCF, based on at least 10 regular-rated games
Minimum Camper Age: 10 years old
In 2025, we had 120 campers from 22 states plus Canada, Mexico, and Puerto Rico. The average USCF rating was ~1750, and average age was around 15. The top group included campers rated 2087 – 2361, and 21 campers were rated over 2000, including National Masters and 1 FIDE Master.
Castle Chess also hosts the 200+ player Grand Prix Tournament the weekend after camp. The Grand Prix is open to everyone.
